Amb. Ekramy El Zaghat: Egypt is more cap...
02 Feb, 2025
Ambassador Ekramy El Zaghat, President of the World Fund for Development and Planning and Special Consultant to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, condemned what he described as moral terrorism carried out by Western countries, led by the United States and France, against citizens around the world due to the term “anti-Semitism.”
In a press statement today, El Zaghat confirmed that the U.S. House of Representatives had passed a resolution last July condemning anti-Semitism, in addition to dismissing Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee after accusing her of making statements described as anti-Semitic. He also mocked the demonstration of thousands of French citizens, including government ministers, last Sunday, protesting against anti-Semitism allegedly from the country’s Muslim citizens.
The President of the World Fund for Development and Planning emphasized that this term has become a tool for intimidating citizens and peoples, and has turned into an accusation against those who are innocent. He explained that the term “anti-Semitism” has been distorted, just as many facts have been falsified. He pointed out that the term “Semitic” originally referred to Shem, the son of Noah, and refers to all those who inhabited the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, and Iraq. Therefore, the term originally described the hostility of other peoples toward the Semitic peoples, but the Jews narrowed the term to mean only those who follow Judaism.
Ambassador El Zaghat added that the Jews, by exploiting the violence they suffered at the hands of the Germans in the past, were able to employ the idea of anti-Semitism for the sake of nationalism. They also managed to convince Western countries of this idea, successfully implementing it, making it a tool to intimidate anyone who attempts to criticize Jews or the occupying state.
